We have a protocol in place for disabled students. Some of our training courses are suitable for disabled students but this often depends on the type of disability. The best thing to do is to contact us so that we can discuss options and we can advise you of organisations that can also help.
We evaluate all of our students before they start their course to ensure that the course is suited to their level. However sometimes students are shy when they take their evaluation and once they get settled into a course, they realise that it is too easy. Or sometimes students struggle to keep up with the level in a course. The 2 most important things are:
- Talk to your teacher or contact Gallico to discuss options. There is always a solution and the most important thing for us is that our students get the most out of their course as they possibly can!
- Do not get disheartened! Everyone progresses at different levels and everyone finds certains aspects of learning more difficult than others. We are all different and at Gallico we recognise this and adapt our training courses to suit all of our students and their learning styles.
Your language trainer will give you a small amount of work to do in between each lesson to consolidate what you learn in lessons and to prepare you for your next session. If you have access to an e-learning platform as part of your package with us, you can do your homework on the platform and this counts towards the training hours needed for your training budget 🙂
Your progress will depend on the type of course you take and your dedication to studying! If you take an intensive course, you will progress much more quickly than if you take one lesson a week. However it is also important to be realistic about how much time you can spare for language learning. If you have a full-time job, other interests and a family, then it isn’t always possible to take an intensive course. However, by integrating short times to practice in your daily life (listening to French radio in the car, watching French TV, writing your shopping list in French….) and practicing as much as you can outside of your lessons, then this will all make a big difference to your progress.
Think of grammar as the building blocks of a language. We need to know some grammar to be able to construct sentences and link words together. Also when you learn verbs, you are learning additional vocabulary. However, the focus of most of our courses is on communication so you won’t be sitting in the classroom doing hundreds of grammar worksheets!
Teaching materials are provided but please bring a notepad and pen to take notes. You also need to bring a bottle of water/your own drink. You may also wish to bring a dictionary or a way to access an online dictionary.
If you are paying for your course yourself, then you need to book by the week before the course starts. It is preferable to book further in advance to avoid disappointment as sometimes our courses sell out or our teachers are all fully-booked!
If you are using a training budget to pay for your course, you usually need to allow 4 weeks for the funding application to be processed.
We accept payments via bank transfer, cheque, cash or credit card. The payment options will be explained to you on your quote when you enquire about taking a course with us.
We currently have centres in the Annemasse region in Haute-Savoie and the Hossegor region in Les Landes. We also offer online courses which can be taken from any location!
All of our language trainers are experienced, qualified teachers. They are carefully selected for their dynamism, their ability to engage the student’s attention, to motivate them and to ensure progression. You can read more about them here – link to team page
