At Gallico LCE, we are language and communication experts and not simply language teachers. Learning and speaking a foreign language is not about having perfect grammar and being able to pass grammar tests like when we were at school. Speaking a foreign language is about communication.

  • We focus on improving our students’ ability to communicate in French, in the situations they need to be able to express themselves in.
  • If you need to be able to hold client meetings in your target language, this is what we will focus on.
  • If you need to be able to write accurate and detailed emails in French, this is what your trainer will include in your lessons.
  • Or maybe you need to be able to negotiate in French, maybe even over the phone? Or hold conferences, zoom meetings, speak to suppliers, dissatisfied customers? Our aim is to give you the tools you need to be able to communicate effectively and confidently when and where you need to.
  • Let’s look at language learning differently!

If you have never used a government training budget before, you may be curious to know how the system works….

  1. Information: We collect some information from you to determine the budget you will be entitled to and what the funding criteria are.
  2. Evaluation: We evaluate your entry level and discuss your objectives. NB. For all of our courses, if you wish to take a group course of a certain level, you will need to have achieved the level below. For example to take a A2 course, you will need to have achieved level A1 or you will find the course too challenging.
  3. Proposal: We propose a suitable training course that meets your level, objectives and study preferences. We decide the duration and the timetable of the training course to ensure that this fits with your professional and personal commitments.
  4. Application: Training budget applications take up to 4 weeks to be processed and approved. Sometimes this is less (for example if you are using your CPF), but you need to apply before you would like to start your course to allow for this application time.
  5. Start of Training: You will receive confirmation of your course timetable and what you should do on your first day of your training. If this is at our centre, we will welcome you and introduce you to your language trainer. If you are taking a course online, you will receive an email with the relevant information to connect for your first lesson.
  6. Cancelling or re-arranging lessons: If you need to cancel or re-arrange a session, this is possible if you are taking private lessons. Please contact us 48 hours in advance to arrange this.
  7. Feedback questionnaire: 5 hours into your course, you will receive a short feedback questionnaire. This is to ensure the training course corresponds to your expectations, levels and objectives.
  8. The end of your course: At the end of your course, you will take a formal or informal evaluation (depending on the type of course you have booked with us). You will also receive a feedback questionnaire to tell us what you thought of your course and to help us improve our service!

Some of our training packages include Telephone Sessions.

These are French lessons/sessions conducted over a regular telephone. If you have to speak French on the phone at work or in your personal life, you will know that this can be the most challenging part of learning French! Taking a part of your training course over the phone allows you to get used to speaking on the phone, to increase your confidence and be more relaxed. This means that when you have to speak French over the phone in real-life situations, you will be better prepared!

Our language trainers are experienced in teaching over the phone so will make you feel comfortable whatever your level, ability and degree of nervousness!

Some of our training packages include “e-learning”. E-learning is a tool we offer for independent study as a part of many of our training programmes.

Students receive unlimited access to an online study platform where they can do exercises, practice their grammar, learn new vocabulary and consolidate what they learn during their course. We prefer to keep our face to face lessons for working on conversation and communicative skills. So the e-learning platform is designed to be a way that students can work on their own at home on the other skills: reading, writing and grammar.

Your language trainer can guide you and advise you about how to get the most out of using the online platform. Sometimes you have to complete a certain amount of hours on the platform to count towards your professional training budget. However, you will have unlimited access to the platform so you can do more hours if you wish!
